The creation of Yummie Mummie Body Bliss Lila was born and as a first time mum I was busy coping with my new role as mum. Fortunately, Lila was a ‘text book’ baby and she didn’t have problems in relation to her skin and obviously was not sensitive to commonly used products.
As soon as I found out I was pregnant I did the usual thing that expectant mothers do and went shopping. I bought huge amounts of baby skin care products that were well known and thought I was doing the right thing as ‘these companies’ have been doing this sort of thing for years.
Then 2 years later, Jarrah was born with very different skin. I used these same products and he had adverse reactions. He developed skin reactions instantly! It was at this point that I started asking myself what was in these products that say ‘All Natural’. This led me to read every label and on the front of the product it would say natural, gentle, soothing and great for delicate skin. But on the back in smaller font it would say such things as Phenoxyethanol Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Propylparabean, Butylparaven, Citric Acid. Research these nasties and you will be surprised as to what we are putting on our newborn’s skin. These are so nasty that I now think of them as forms of chemicals.
I was amazed to see the lack of organic baby products of good quality in chemists, baby shops, supermarkets etc. So then came lots of investigating, inventing, meetings and lots of planning to develop – ‘Yummie Mummie Body Bliss’!
